jQuery.change() does not work in Chrome (but does in IE, Firebug, and FF)

For some reason, the jQuery.change() function is not working at all in Chrome. It works fine in IE, FF, and Firebug. I can select text and.submit() it with no problem, but when I try to do anything.change() related, nothing happens.
It’s definitely a problem with Chrome, and not my HTML, because at one point I pulled a few validations out of my HTML and added them back to the body and the.change() function worked properly. Other than that, the only significant thing I can think of is that it might be the “datepicker-on-a-typewriter” situation. We’re using Bootstrap 2.3.2.
Any ideas?
Here’s a link to a JSFiddle with a simple example showing the problem. Click “okay”, then backspace, then click “okay”, then backspace again. You’ll see nothing happen in Chrome, but you’ll see the “you must fill in one or more inputs” message, which means that.change() works.


I think the problem is that you are using as it’s not a valid input type for the datepicker plugin.
It should be
